Park Life: LIP’s First Picnic in the Park a Success

Sunshine, a bubbling fountain, and beautiful landscaped surroundings were the ideal setting for LIP’s first picnic lunch which brought almost 60 people from 14 LIP-based organisations together for lunch on Friday 4th June 2010.

Lured by the promise of good company and free ice lollies,  groups from Selex Communications, Quill Pinpoint, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Gardner Systems and LJMU to name a few helped make LIP’s first ‘Picnic in the Park’ event a success.

‘It’s been really good to be able to have the chance to catch up over lunch and we will probably try to do this once a month from now on,’ said Maria Gamble of Selex.

Although most people brought food, a special lunch service for those who forgot was provided by event sponsors Working Lunch.

A free champagne draw, in which entry was exchanged for ideas, sponsored by Space North West generated over ideas for future events and was won by Dan Thomason of Render Nation.

‘This event was a great start to a summer of fun events organised by the Park Life Social & Charity Committee which is always looking for new members to help create a sense of community on the Park,’ said Innovation Manager Mark Tock.

Details of the next Park Life social events, a visit to Cains Brewery on the evening of Friday 18th June 2010 and an American Independence Day-themed Picnic in the Park on Friday 2nd July 2010, are listed on the LIP website.
